Bayer and Lyondell Complete JV for Propylene Oxide Following two years of construction, Lyondell Chemical Co. and Bayer MaterialScience AG inaugurated a world-scale propylene oxide/styrene monomer (PO/SM) manufacturing facility in Maasvlakte, near Rotterdam. The new facility, one of the largest of its kind, is a 50/50 joint venture between Lyondell and Bayer. The site employs approximately 250 people. The new plant has an annual capacity of 285,000 metric tons of PO and 635,000 metric tons of styrene.
